Your Journey to the Glinzhof

Our Service – Complimentary Shuttle Service to and from the Station

Once you arrive in San Candido by train, a very special service from our house awaits you. We will pick you up from the San Candido train station and take you back to the train at the end of your holiday. We are happy to offer this service free of charge.

Public transport (local transit) does not run directly to our mountain farm. However, to ensure you remain mobile while staying up on the mountain, we have come up with a solution for you.

Mobile on Holiday – Rental Car or E-Bike?

To ensure that our guests arriving by train remain mobile during their stay, a rental car is available for their use. To explore the surrounding nature and enjoy total flexibility, you are also welcome to use our farm's own E-bikes. Both the electric bicycles and the rental car are, of course, fully electric. We generate the electricity for the pedelecs and the rental car using our own photovoltaic system – that goes without saying.

Climate neutrality is not only important to us regarding our guests' local mobility; in general, we at Glinzhof strive to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible in everything we do. You can find out more about sustainability, environmental compatibility, and climate neutrality at our farm here.

Arriving in San Candido by Train

We would like to share with you just how easy it is to travel by train to South Tyrol, the Dolomites, and San Candido, along with the positive experiences reported by our visitors:

Whether you are coming from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland – the journey to South Tyrol with Deutsche Bahn (DB), Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), or Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), in cooperation with the Italian and South Tyrolean railways, works brilliantly.

International train connections from Germany will bring you swiftly to Fortezza (German: Franzensfeste) near Bressanone (Brixen), where you can change to the local rail line towards San Candido.

Trains run several times a day from Munich to Fortezza—taking less than four hours. If you are traveling from Berlin, for example, the ICE Sprinter will take you to the Bavarian capital in just about 4.5 hours on the Berlin-Munich high-speed line.

The DB promotes special offers under "Sparpreis" and "Flexpreis"—specifically Sparpreis Europa and Super Sparpreis Europa—to travel to South Tyrol quickly, affordably, and in an environmentally friendly way. Prices start as low as €18.90 for short distances (Munich - Bolzano) and from €46.90 for longer routes (Frankfurt - Bressanone).

From Austria, the route leads either via Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, the Brenner Pass, and Fortezza to San Candido, or via Klagenfurt to Lienz and then on to your destination, San Candido.

With ÖBB, you can discover South Tyrol quickly and easily. From Kufstein, Eurocity trains from ÖBB and DB run via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass directly to Fortezza. Innsbruck Central Station serves as the ideal transport hub for traveling from both western and eastern Austria to South Tyrol and onward to San Candido.

From Vienna or Bregenz, you can reach your destination with just one change of trains using the ÖBB Railjet and the Eurocity. Even more convenient is the direct connection to South Tyrol with the Railjet from Vienna via St. Pölten, Linz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck.

With ÖBB Sparschiene tickets, you can travel to South Tyrol at even lower prices if you book in advance.

From Switzerland, the train connection leads via Zernez or the Arlberg to Fortezza (Franzensfeste), and then continues with the local railway via Villabassa (Niederdorf) and Dobbiaco (Toblach) to San Candido.

Traveling from Switzerland is particularly pleasant with the Railjet Express & Eurocity via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass. SBB trains depart several times a day from Zurich, Basel, or Geneva.

For a truly scenic journey, travel through the Swiss National Park and the Val Müstair. The Rhaetian Railway takes you from Landquart to Zernez. The journey continues by PostAuto (bus) to Malles (Mals) in the Venosta Valley, where the Vinschgerbahn transports you to Merano and the surrounding area. From there, continue to Bolzano and Fortezza, the starting point for the regional train to San Candido. There is no more beautiful way to travel!

Traveling with a Railcard can pay off!

Do you already own a BahnCard 25 or BahnCard 50? Even better: traveling with a railcard can really be worth it. With the BahnCard 25, you get a 25% discount on Flex and Saver fares (Sparpreise). With the BahnCard 50, the savings are accordingly higher, with 50% off Flex and Saver fares. Each BahnCard is available for both 1st and 2nd class. For both the BahnCard 25 and 50, particularly cost-effective partner cards are available, making traveling together even cheaper! With the BahnCard 100, you can even enjoy unlimited travel within Germany.

Tip: You also benefit from the BahnCard abroad: RAILPLUS is a cooperation between European railway companies that grants discounts on cross-border rail travel.

Would you like to try out the BahnCard first? Deutsche Bahn offers various railcards as a "Probe BahnCard" (trial card) at very attractive rates, valid for 3 months.

You can find all information about the BahnCard and many other benefits here.

Plus point: On Deutsche Bahn's long-distance services, you travel with 100 percent green electricity – an important contribution to climate protection.

Would you like to arrive with your own bike?

Of course, that is no problem at all. You are welcome to travel by train with your own bicycle. Taking bicycles on several long-distance trains from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland is easily possible. Additional spaces in a luggage van or special bike compartment are available on some trains. However, a reservation is absolutely mandatory if you wish to bring your bicycle along.

Would you like luggage shipping?

Would you prefer not to travel with heavy luggage? That is also possible. A courier service will pick up your bags directly from your home and transport the suitcases to us. The transport of skis and bicycles is also possible via Insam Express. Deutsche Bahn (DB) also offers a luggage service, although since May 1, 2021, this can only be booked for travel within Germany. For our guests from Austria, ÖBB offers a door-to-door luggage service. Travel with light luggage – for a comfortable start to your holiday.

Alternatively, you can also send your luggage directly to us by post. In this case, however, you should inform yourself well about the delivery times.

To South Tyrol and San Candido by Long-Distance Bus

Long-distance bus providers have also recognized how attractive South Tyrol is as a travel destination. For example, the well-known green buses from FlixBus run regularly from all over Germany towards South Tyrol and the Dolomites.

FlixBus destinations in South Tyrol include Marlengo (Marling), Vipiteno (Sterzing), Merano (Meran), Bressanone (Brixen), Chiusa (Klausen), and Lana, with Bressanone being the closest to San Candido. However, choosing Vipiteno as your stop can be strategically more advantageous for continuing your journey to San Candido by bus or train. Travel to South Tyrol by bus at unbeatably low prices – FlixBus makes it possible.

Tip: You can also transport your bicycle with FlixBus, although transport is limited to a maximum of 5 bikes per bus. The cost for taking a bicycle is €9 per bike and route.

Just ask us quickly and easily via our contact form and we will contact you as soon as possible!
