San Candido - Haunold Toboggan Run

When you look out the window of our mountain farm, you can look directly at the Haunold and its toboggan run. In winter, San Candido's local mountain is a family-friendly ski area that also invites you to go sledding. You can reach the top of this family mountain by chairlift or on foot. At the Riese Haunold Hut, you can stop for a cozy break or immediately zoom down the 2.1-kilometer run, which covers an altitude difference of 300 meters.

At the Haunold, you can easily spend the entire day sledding if you wish: simply take the chairlift up the mountain and the next run can begin. Additionally, every Tuesday and Friday is night sledding at the Haunold.

San Candido - Wildbad Toboggan Run

The starting point of the Wildbad San Candido toboggan run is also the Haunold valley station. However, the ascent leads through the snow-covered winter forest in a dreamily beautiful winter setting. Walking path no. 105 runs along the Sesto stream, where cross-country skiers also enjoy their sport. Turning right onto hiking trail no. 7, you head towards Wildbad San Candido, the former Grand Hotel. Partially destroyed in World War I, it has been in decline ever since, yet it still possesses a fascinating aura and tells stories of glamorous days gone by.

The path continues to the Haunold, where you can stop for a refreshment. For the descent, you can head back through the winter wonderland along the same path you came up, or you can sled down the Haunold toboggan run. You are also free to take the mountain lift for the ascent and then sled back towards the valley station, passing by Wildbad.

San Candido / Sesto - Innerfeldtal Toboggan Run

The Innerfeldtal valley between San Candido and Sesto is a popular excursion destination in the Alta Pusteria all year round. In winter, this picturesque valley gains an additional attraction: the 4-kilometer-long toboggan run. The ascent starts at the Gweng parking lot or alternatively at the Antoniusstein parking lot, leading through a fairytale-like snowy forest of spruce and larch trees.

Then the valley opens up, framed by the towering Dolomite walls. At the Dreischusterhütte hut, you can fuel up with traditional Tyrolean cuisine and also rent sleds for your ride. Now the diverse and entertaining sledding fun can begin. But beware: the toboggan run is also the path used for the ascent to the starting point.

Sesto - Rotwand Toboggan Run

Everything starts at the Moso (Moos) valley station: a comfortable gondola ride takes you leisurely to the starting point of the toboggan run at the mountain station of the Rotwandwiesen ski area. Alternatively, you can of course reach the summit on foot: the hike up to the mountain station is both relaxing and decelerating, rewarding you with a magnificent view of the Sexten Dolomites. The 5-kilometer-long toboggan run descends 700 meters in altitude to the finish, leading through a dreamily snow-covered winter forest.

An absolute highlight: The only herd of reindeer in the Alps lives along the toboggan run, and you can observe them in their habitat, where they seem to feel very much at home. On the Rotwand toboggan run, wearing a helmet is mandatory for both children and adults!

Sesto - Klammbachtal Toboggan Run

The natural toboggan run at the Klammbachalm is definitely worth seeing and riding. The challenging Klammbachalm run, which is 6.5 kilometers long and covers 600 meters in altitude, runs below the Carnic Ridge. The 2.5-hour ascent to the Klammbachalm starts from Moso (Moos) near Sesto and requires good physical condition. As a reward, once you reach the top, you are greeted with a view of the Three Peaks (Drei Zinnen), the most striking and certainly best-known rock formation in the Dolomites.

At the Klammbachalm Hut, you can fuel up with delicious South Tyrolean specialties and refresh yourself with cold drinks or warm up with hot ones before heading back down the mountain to the starting point.

Villabassa - Bodenwiese Toboggan Run

The Bodenwiese natural toboggan run starts in the tranquil yet very active village of Villabassa (Niederdorf), which serves as the starting point for this intermediate-level natural run. The ascent covers 340 meters in altitude on foot. Once you reach the start, you will find yourself in the magnificent winter landscape above Villabassa. From there, you sled 2.6 kilometers back down towards the village.

The Bodenwiese - Kalkbrünndl sledding excursion is even more enjoyable when combined with a traditional mountain hut stop. The Bodenwiese toboggan run is still a true insider tip!
